On August 22-27, 2019 in Kazan, the international stage of the WorldSkills competition of workers was held. The results for all competencies can be viewed here. This article contains video recordings of world champions in competency 23 – Mobile robotics.
The description given in this article is based solely on what was seen and based on an existing experience in Mobile Robotics. In case you notice a mistake or inaccuracy, we ask you to inform us about it.
According to the results of the competitions in the Mobile Robotics competency, prizes are distributed as follows:
During the first day of competition (C1), competitors must assemble a robot and complete qualification tasks. Assembly must be completed before the qualification runs that took place on the same day C1 after lunch.
Each team performs the assembly of the structure and installation of the robot electronics from scratch: the whole structure is completely disassembled, there are no electrical connections. The video below shows how the teams of Japan, Russia, Korea and China performed the assembly and installation of the robot.
Qualification races included three different tasks that the team had to demonstrate to experts within 30 minutes. The completion of the qualification task consists of performing individual actions by the mobile robot, and before each next action, the participant tells the expert what will be done by the robot and after the appropriate expert command the robot must execute the necessary command.
The task in the qualification races consisted of three tasks:
On the morning of the second day, the teams received a completely changed configuration of the field, in which it was necessary to transport the balls with pallets according to a previously known task.
In the first half of the day, the teams trained on a new field, and after lunch they performed test attempts, the videos of which are given below.
On the third day of the competition the field remained the same as on the previous day, but the difficulty was that the robot did not know in advance which balls to put into which pallet. Only after reading the information from the barcode does the robot receive this information.
During the fourth day of the competition it was necessary to carry out a similar task but in the manual control mode of the robot.
